What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is an FDA approved injectible wrinkle treatment used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, such as the nasolabial folds. Radiesse also stimulates the body to produce new collagen, and is made of unique calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a water-based gel. Dr. Abramson uses Radiesse dermal filler to add volume to the cheeks and deep nasolabial folds. No allergy testing is required. Results lasting up to one year can be expected.

Candidates for Radiesse

  • Deep folds on the face
  • Areas that need more volume enhancement due to facial fat loss and sagging.
  • Patients who need more than simple lines softened, but would like an overall fuller more youthful face.

About the Procedure

All filler treatment procedures start with either a topical anesthetic, an injection of anesthetic, or an anesthetic block to lessen or eliminate discomfort. Once the desired area is numb, Dr. Abramson will inject the filler under the skin. Multiple injections are made so the dermal filler is evenly distributed through the area. The entire procedure can be performed in less than an hour.

Recovery

Little or no anesthesia is required because the needles are so small that discomfort is minimal. There are topical anesthetic agents that can be used, depending on the patient’s preference and the sensitivity of the area being treated. Some patients may have slight swelling and bruising around the injection areas that will go away within a few hours.
